Bel Air, Md. – Mark Grunberg and
Richie Blosser each went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Towson series-opening, 16-4, loss to Bryant Sunday evening at Harford Community College.
Grunber reached safely in four of his five plate appearances as he also drew a pair of walks. He drove in the Tigers first run of the game with a fielder's choice in the third inning.
A.J. Gallo came off the bench to go 2-for-2 with a double, while
Spencer Sutton collected a pair of hits in three at-bats.
The Bulldogs (1-6) got on the board with two outs in the first on a Robby Rinn two-run double just inside the bag at first. They extended the lead in the second after a two-run single from AJ Zarozny and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Matt Albanese. A seven-run fourth inning gave the Bulldogs a big advantage.
The Tigers (0-8) scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Sutton started the fifth inning with a single to right before being removed for a pinch runner. After a pair of walks loaded the bases, Blosser single to left to drive in a run.
Brady Policelli started a rally with walk and a stolen base in the sixth inning. He later came in to score on Dan Caddigan's RBI single up the middle.
Austin Clark (0-2) took the loss after giving up eight earned runs over 3.2 innings. James Davitt (1-0) earned the victory out of the bullpen, allowing two runs, one earned over 4.2 innings.
The two teams will return to the diamond Monday morning as they close out the series with a doubleheader beginning at 9 a.m. at the Harford Sports Complex.
