TOWSON, Md. – Certain things in life over the last four years have been inevitable like death, taxes, Drake dropping hits and
Timajh Parker-Rivera appearing in a Towson University men's basketball game. After all, the affable senior forward has been durable, dependable and dedicated during his memorable Tiger career.
Last weekend, Parker-Rivera played in his 120th career contest and like many of them, he contributed to Towson's 79-72 victory over Northeastern with a solid eight-point and six-rebound effort. The game was significant for Parker-Rivera as he became Towson's all-time leader in games played, surpassing Robert Nwankwo and Robert Coleman. With 88 career starts, Parker-Rivera is currently tied with Steffan Bunsavage for seventh most starts in program history.
"Being the all-time leader in games played wouldn't be possible without my teammates past and present who have consistently encouraged and challenged me," Parker-Rivera said. "I am thankful for the opportunity coach (
Pat Skerry) gave me to help change the culture of this program. It means everything to me that I was able to leave my stamp right here where I started."
The Tigers have a minimum of 11 games remaining beginning with their annual visit to Drexel on Thursday night. With each game he plays, Parker-Rivera will continue setting an impressive standard of consistent excellence that could stand for a while. If the Tigers can get to 20 wins, Parker-Rivera will also become the all-time winningest player in Towson's Division I program history, surpassing Devin Boyd, who won 74 games between 1988-1993.
"He's a great teammate," Skerry said. "He's a warrior and he practices like he plays. He has helped set the tone for our program during the last four years. He plays so hard."
Parker-Rivera is also ninth in school history in rebounding (607) and seventh in blocked shots (113). Next up for Parker-Rivera to pass in rebounding is Junior Hairston's total of 629 and blocked shots is Bobby Washington's mark of 126.
