EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Towson gymnastics program finished second with a season-best 193.800 points at the Michigan State Quad Meet on Saturday. Michigan State won the meet with 193.925 points while Rutgers came in third-place (193.550) and Pittsburgh in fourth (193.100).

In addition to setting a season-best team score, the Tigers posted season-high scores on vault and floor.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The Tigers posted a season-high 48.475 on vault as four Tigers all scored 9.700 for the event. Cortni Baker (career-best), Mary Elle Arduino (career-best), Tyra McKellar (season-best) and Noelle Harada (career-best) all finished in a tie for 10th-place.
- Tyra McKellar led the Tigers on the uneven bars, winning the event with a score of 9.850, tying her season-best. Brittany Ranti made her career-debut, scoring 9.625. Baker posted a career-high 9.425 on the event.
- McKellar was the runner-up on the balance beam, scoring a season-best and tying her career-best with 9.850. Lauren Cahalan and Bridget Steffen both scored season-bests 9.800 to finish tied for third-place.
- Towson scored a season-best 48.625 on floor. McKellar finished tied for fourth-place with a season-best 9.825. Harada (9.775) and Cahalan (9.600) posted season-best scores. Â
- In the all-around, McKellar came in second-place with a season-best 39.225. Harada placed fifth with a score of 38.225.

The Tigers stay on the road, traveling to New Hampshire for a quad meet with Bridgeport and Brown on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. Towson will open its season at home on Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. against Pittsburgh, Ursinus and Penn.
