CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston scored the first 11 points of the game en route to a 67-55 win over the Towson University women's basketball team on Sunday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. Senior guard
Dominique Johnson led the Tigers with 15 points and six rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED- The Cougars opened the game on an 11-0 run and held a double digit lead with 6:59 to go in the first quarter. Kelsey Booth had five early points for the home team. Towson responded with a 6-2 run of its own to close out the stanza and the Cougars led 13-6 after one quarter.
- College of Charleston (8-11, 3-5 CAA) scored eight of the first 13 points in the second quarter and led 21-11 with 6:40 to go in the stanza. Breanna Bolden had four points for the Cougars during that run. A 10-2 run by the Tigers cut the Cougars' lead to two, 23-21 with 1:39 to go in the quarter. Johnson tallied five points for the Tigers during that stretch. College of Charleston scored the final three points of the half and took a 26-21 lead at the break.
- Towson scored six of the first 11 points in the third quarter and cut the Cougar lead to four, 31-27 with 8:23 showing on the clock. Redshirt sophomore guard Raine Bankston completed a three-point play during that stretch. The Tigers and Cougars traded baskets over the final eight minutes of the quarter as College of Charleston's lead fluctuated between four and nine points. Freshman forward Brittany Tarr connected on a jumper with 10 seconds left in the stanza and College of Charleston led 45-38 after three quarters.
- A pair of free throws from junior guard Raven Bankston just 10 seconds into the fourth quarter made it a five point game, 45-40. However that was as close as the Tigers would get in the final period of action. College of Charleston went 13-for-17 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to seal the 67-55 victory. Nola Henry led the way for the Cougars going 7-for-10 in that stanza.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE- Both teams shot the ball well from the foul line posting a free throw percentage of 69% or better. Towson was 17-for-23 (73.9%) while Charleston went 20-for-29 (69%). Raven Bankston led all players as she was 9-for-10 from the line. Henry led the Cougars as she went 7-for-11.
- Towson recorded 10 steals in the game. It was the eighth time this season the Tigers (5-15, 2-7 CAA) have recorded 10 or more steals this season. Johnson and Raven Bankston each had three swipes.
- College of Charleston won the rebounding battle, 42-37.
- The Cougars got 14 points and nine rebounds from Bolden. Â
The Tigers are back in action on Friday, Feb. 5 when they host Delaware at 7 p.m. in SECU Arena.
