First Place Finishes Lift Tigers Over UMBC, 167-133

CATONSVILLE, Md. – The Towson University women's swimming and diving team won 10 of 16 events to claim a 167-133 win at local rival UMBC on Saturday afternoon. Caitlin Manthe highlighted the Tigers efforts as she won the 50-yard freestyle and swam on two first place relays.

How it Happened (Diving)
  • Towson swept both the one-meter and the three-meter diving events.
  • Victoria Zozzaro won the one-meter event with a total of 244.65 and finished third in the three-meter event with a total of 219.07
  • Emily Wilson captured the three-meter title with a personal best of 274.20 and finished third in the one-meter event with a total of 234.07.
  • Kelsey Jehl finished second in both events. She totaled 237.90 in the one-meter and had a personal best of 238.00 in the three-meter.

How it Happened (Swimming)
  • The Tigers kicked off the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. Jacy Icard, Kalyn Fetter, Tara Goss and Manthe combined for a time of 1:46.78.
  • Icard won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.11.
  • Ashley Illenye won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:08.06.
  • Manthe and Melissa Toy finished one-two in the 50-yard freestyle. Manthe finished in 24.66 while Toy touched the wall in 24.84.
  • Toy and Manthe were the top two finishers in the 100-yard freestyle. This time it was Toy who set a personal best at 53.30 to win. Manthe was second with a time of 53.57.
  • The Tigers also claimed the top two spots in the 200-yard backstroke. Kendall Krumenacker posted the event's top time with a mark of 2:04.85 while Icard set a personal best of 2:05.85 to finish second.
  • Goss won the 100-yard butterfly with a personal best of 58.80.
  • The Tigers' final event win came in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Manthe, Ryan Ulrich, Annemarie Schnoor and Toy combined for a time of 3:35.01.
