Looking at the Tigers: The Tigers will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss to Delaware on Wednesday night. Sophomore
Jocelyn Kuilan had a team-high 13 kills while freshman
Marrisa Wonders had 24 assists and 12 digs. Towson is paced by senior
Jessica Lewis. Lewis leads the team with 378 kills, 259 digs and 29 service aces. Kuilan is contributing 297 kills, 35 blocks and 30 service aces. Wonders has dished out a team-high 686 assists with 251 digs while redshirt sophomore
Anna Holehouse has 357 digs. Senior
Lindsay Flaherty leads the defense at the net with 93 blocks.
Scouting the Opponent: Elon is coming off a 3-0 sweep of William & Mary on Monday night.
Sydney Busa led the Phoenix with 18 kills and 10 digs while
Sydel Curry had 42 assists and 11 digs. On the season
Kam Terry leads Elon with 315 kills and 45 blocks while Busa is contributing 232 kills and 213 digs. Curry has distributed 890 assists while
Maddie Jaudon has a team-high 378 digs.
Series History: Friday's contest will be the eighth meeting all-time between the Tigers and the Phoenix. Towson leads the series 6-1 after posting a 3-2 win over Elon in Towson in early October. In that match
Jessica Lewis led Towson with 25 kills and 11 digs while
Sydney Busa finished with 21 kills and 17 digs.
Seeing Double: Towson enters play this weekend leading the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in double-double performances. The Tigers have gotten 40 double-doubles from five different players this season. Freshman
Marrisa Wonders recorded a double-double against Delaware, finishing with 24 assists and a career-high 12 digs while sophomore
Carola Biver had 11 kills and 11 digs in that match. It was Wonders' 16th double-double of the season. Entering play this weekend, Wonders leads the CAA in double-double performances.
A Kill Machine: Senior
Jessica Lewis had six kills against Delaware, raising her season total to 378 kills. She currently ranks 15th in single-season history at Towson for total kills. Lewis needs 22 more kills to become the 11th player in program history with at least 400 kills in a single-season.
Twenty-Twenty Vision: A win over Elon would give the Tigers their 20th victory of the season. It would mark the third straight season and 18th time in program history that a Tiger squad has won at least 20 games. The program record for wins in a season is 30 and was set by the 1983 squad and later matched by the 1993 team.
Hitting the Closing Stretch: Counting Friday's match at Elon, the Tigers have five matches left in the regular season. The top six teams at the end of the regular season advance to the CAA Tournament which will be hosted by UNCW, Nov. 18-20. Towson enters play this week in a tie for fourth place in the CAA standings with James Madison.
Up Next: The Tigers return home to host their final two home matches next weekend with Hofstra on Friday, Nov. 4 and Northeastern on Sunday, Nov. 6. The match against Hofstra will be the team's annual "Autism Match" and on Sunday before the Northeastern match, the Tigers will honor their three seniors.
