FAIRFAX, Va. – The Towson University women's swimming and diving team earned five first place finishes on day two of the tri-meet with George Mason and Northeastern. The Tigers defeated George Mason, 204-149 but fell to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) rival Northeastern, 179-174.
The Tigers won five events on the final day and recorded 11 top-three performances. Over both days, Towson posted seven event victories and placed in the top-three 19 times.
How it Happened
- Victoria Zozzaro won on the one-meter diving boards with 237.75 points. Emily Wilson followed in second-place with 230.35 points.
- Kendall Krumenacker took second in the 200-yard freestyle, timing 1:54.76.
- In the 100-yard butterfly, Tara Goss finished just outside of the top three. She timed 58.10 for a fourth-place finish.
- Amanda Rosa timed 1:06.70 in the 100-yard breaststroke to finish in third-place.
- Jacy Icard touched the wall in 56.44 to win the 100-yard backstroke.
- Corie Morton won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:29.72.
- The 200-yard medley relay team of Icard, Kalyn Fetter, Krumenacker and Melissa Toy combined for a third-place finish (1:45.40).
- Ashley Illenye was the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle, timing 5:01.85.
- Jacy Icard won her second event of the day with a time of 2:03.44 in the 200-yard backstroke.
- Caitlin Manthe timed 52.50 for a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle.
- Morton was the runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.23.
- Illenye finished fourth in the 200-yard butterfly, timing 2:09.17.
- The Tigers wrapped up the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Annemarie Schnoor, Manthe, Toy and Krumenacker combined for a first-place time of 3:30.69.
