Early Runs the Difference in Series Finale

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian scored seven runs in the second and third innings and that proved to be the difference as Towson fell 11-5 in the series finale Sunday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • The Blue Hose (4-2) got on the board in the second inning as a pair of base hits and a walk loaded the bases with no outs.  An RBI single was followed by a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly for the 3-0 lead.
  • PC came right back in the third and got a leadoff home run from Weston Jackson.
  • A one-out throwing error by the Tigers (0-6) paved the way for PC to push across three more unearned runs.
  • The Tigers got on the board in the fifth inning as a fielder's choice and a walk to Colin Gimblet put two on with one out.  After a wild pitch, A.J. Gallo drove in a run with an infield single.
  • Brady Policelli followed with a walk to load the bases and Richard Miller walked to plate the second run.
  • The Blue Hose extended their lead in the sixth inning by pushing across four more runs.
  • Towson got two runs back in the eighth after Policelli singled and stole second.  Clark Clatchey drove in Policelli with a pinch-hit single through the right side.
  • Clatchey would steal second and then score on a John Drexel pinch-hit single to right center.
  • The Tigers would add one more run in the ninth as Policelli doubled to right center, scoring Richie Palacios who reached earlier in the inning with a walk.
  • Kevin Ross (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing seven runs, four earned, on eight hits over three innings.
  • Ryan Hedrick (1-0) threw four shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out five to earn the victory.
  • Policelli led the Tigers by going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.  He also drew two walks and stole a base.
