TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team concluded its homestand by splitting a doubleheader with George Mason Wednesday afternoon at the Tiger Softball Stadium. Towson and George Mason traded shutouts with the Tigers claiming the first game, 8-0, and dropping the nightcap, 7-0.
RecordsTowson's record improved to 22-7, its best mark after 29 games in the last 10 years. It's the third time since 2007, Towson has had 20 wins after 29 games. The 2010 team was 21-8 and the 2009 squad was 20-9. George Mason's mark improved to 14-11 overall.
How It Happened Game 1- Kaylen Minnatee, Nicole Stockinger and Shelby Stracher had two hits each for Towson.
- Minnatee hit her first career collegiate homer to cap off a four-run fourth inning for the Tigers.
- She hit a two-run shot that gave Towson a 4-0 lead.
- Before Minnatee's homer, Stockinger and Bailey Boyd delivered RBI singles for the Tigers in the fourth inning.
