TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team flexed its muscles by unleashing a majestic power display to defeat Virginia in a doubleheader, 10-2 and 6-3, Tuesday afternoon at the Tiger Softball Complex.
Towson improved to 14-4 overall by blasting six home runs over the two games. The Tigers heavy hitters were freshman
Bailey Boyd and sophomore
Shelby Stracher, who each hit two homers on the afternoon.
How It Happened- In claiming the opening game, Stracher hit two home runs.
- Also hitting homers in the first game for Towson were Boyd, Nicole Stockinger and Daria Edwards.
- Edwards paced Towson's 12-hit attack with three hits. She finished a triple short of the cycle.
- Towson scored runs in the final five innings ultimately earning the run-rule decision when Edwards and Stracher went back-to-back in the sixth inning with blasts.
