TOWSON, Md. – The Towson women's outdoor track and field program will compete in the 2016 Hopkins/Loyola Track and Field Invitational on Saturday, April 16 at the Loyola-Johns Hopkins Track & Field Complex.
The meet, which will feature over 20 teams, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with field events followed by running events at 10 a.m.
Towson moved into the Top 10 on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) Mid-Atlantic Regional report, released on April 11. The No. 10 Tigers are the top ranked Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) school in the Mid-Atlantic Region, six spots ahead of No. 16 Delaware.
Freshman
Arianna Waller earned CAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week, along with Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Track and Field DI Rookie of the Week award, for her performance at the 2016 Towson Invitational last weekend. Waller is the second Tiger to earn the CAA weekly award (
Zanae Freeland, March 22) and the first to receive the ECAC weekly honor this season.
The Tigers posted 12 event victories to finish in first place at the 2016 Towson Invitational. Waller led the Tiger effort on the track, winning both the 100- and 200-meter dashes and running on the winning 4x100m relay team.
Ashleigh Stallings had an impressive performance in the field events at the invitational for Towson. The senior won discus and javelin with ECAC DI Outdoor Championship qualifying marks. In addition, Stallings' throw in discus set a school record (45.45m/149'01").
Towson travels to the two day Morgan State Legacy Meet from April 22-23 in Baltimore, Maryland.
