FAIRFAX, Va. - The Towson University track & field team completed the first day of competition at the Dalton EBanks Invitational, hosted by George Mason University. The Tigers turned in seven new all-time marks, highlighted by a new program record set by junior Baara Stewart.
Field Events
Denise Kamgaing placed second in the hammer throw with a personal-best 56.29m mark to rank fifth all-time. Olamide Enajekpo followed in fourth place with a 54.72m throw, ranking sixth all-time.
Senior Leeann Redlo placed fourth in the high jump invitational, and freshman Harmony Darden finish in 10th in the high jump open.
In the long jump, senior Kiara Murray placed 10th.
Track Events
In the 200m, three freshmen finished in the top ten: Jaylynn Dorsey (5th, 24.28), Brianna Easley (6th, 24.32) and Bianca Durant (10th, 24.47). Dorsey's and Easley's times rank seventh and tied for eighth, respectively while Durant's ties for 10th.
Junior Baara Stewart carried her record-setting momentum from the indoor season into the outdoor campaign, breaking the program's 800m record with a first-place finish and a personal-best time of 2:05.64. Senior Layla James also turned in an all-time effort in the same event, clocking 2:14.09 to rank sixth.
