TOWSON, Md. - Jonathan Alexis has been named as the newest addition to the Towson University's track & field/cross country coaching staff, announced by head coach Consandria Walker-Hall on Monday afternoon.

"I am thrilled to welcome Coach Alexis to our coaching staff," said Walker-Hall. "He brings a proven record of success at every level, along with the experience, passion and expertise to make an immediate impact. I believe Coach Alexis will be instrumental in helping us build upon the momentum we have created and continue our pursuit of excellence both on and off the track."

Alexis joins Towson after spending the past three years as an assistant coach with Alabama State's track & field program. Working primarily with jumpers, pole vaulters and multi-event athletes, he helped develop multiple NCAA qualifiers, contributed to four Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) team championships and played an integral role in producing some of the nation's top jumping talent.

"I am thankful for Coach Walker for giving me this opportunity," said Alexis. "I'm looking forward to getting to work with this great staff and young talented group of athletes. They have accomplished a lot this past year and I am thrilled to be a part of their amazing journey."

Prior to Alabama State, Alexis made coaching stops at Iowa Central Community College, Carver Academy (Va.) and Virginia Union University. While at Iowa Central, Alexis was awarded five USTFCCCA Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors.

Alexis is a native of Brooklyn, New York. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Union University and an Associate of Arts from Kingsborough Community College.
