Palacios Homers as Win Streak is Stopped

TOWSON, Md. – Towson saw its four-game winning streak come to an end with a 6-2 loss to Hofstra Saturday afternoon at Schuerholz Park.

How It Happened
  • The Pride (7-20, 1-3 CAA) got on the board in the second as a pair of Tiger throwing errors allowed the unearned run to score.  Another error for the Tigers in the third allowed a second unearned run to score.
  • Teddy Cillis added to the lead in the fourth with a solo home run to left field.
  • Hofstra doubled its lead in the sixth on a three-run home run from Nick Bottari.
  • The Tigers (10-17, 1-1 CAA) got two runs back in the home-half of the inning as Tristan Howerton drew a leadoff walk and scored on a Richie Palacios two-run shot to right field.
  • The Pride took advantage of yet another Towson error to add an insurance run in the top of the ninth.
  • Towson scored its third of the game in the bottom of the ninth as Colin Gimblet and Brady Policelli started the inning with back-to-back singles.  Two batters later, A.J. Gallo drove in Gimblet with a groundout up the middle.
  • The top of the Tigers lineup carried the load as Palacios, Gimblet and Policelli each collected two hits.
  • Austin Clark (0-3) took the loss after allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits over five innings.
  • Bowie Matteson (2-2) allowed just two runs on five hits over 7.2 innings to pick up the win.
