HARRISONBURG, Va. – Despite
Brook Miko continuing her torrid RBI binge, the Towson University softball team will have to take the scenic route to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship game after dropping a 14-2 decision to host and top-seeded James Madison Thursday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Tigers still have an opportunity to become the queens of the CAA. However, they have no margin for error. Towson will play an elimination game later this evening against the winner of the Delaware-Charleston contest. If the Tigers survive that, they will get another shot at seventh-ranked James Madison on Friday.
How It Happened
- The Tigers never led after James Madison scored four two-out runs in the bottom of the first inning.
- Kendyl Scott threw out a runner at home in the first inning.
- Holiday Cahill started an excellent double play to end the second inning by catching a line drive and stepping on first base.
- Miko hit her 11th homer with two outs in the third inning to bring the Tigers to within, 4-2.
- Scott, who reached base twice, and Stracher had hits for the Tigers.
- Daria Edwards reached base twice with a pair of walks.
- James Madison took control of the game by scoring nine runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Inside the Numbers
