Baseball Honors Seniors

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team honored eight seniors before dropping a 6-1 decision to Delaware Sunday afternoon at Schuerholz Park.

How It Happened
  • The Tigers (19-32, 9-12 CAA) got on the board in the first inning after Richie Palacios singled to center and went to second on a sacrifice from Colin GimbletBrady Policelli followed with a single through the left side.  Policelli took second as the throw went home, and when the catcher tried to throw out Policelli, Palacios hustled home from third.
  • The Blue Hens (31-20, 9-12 CAA) took the lead in the fourth inning as two-straight hits put runners on corners.  After a wild pitch scored one run, Nick Patten drove in two runs with a double to left.  Doug Trimble plated the fourth run of the inning with a single into the hole at second.
  • UD added a run in the seventh as they loaded the bases with no outs.  After a foul out, a grounder was misplayed, allowing an unearned run to score.  The damage was limited as a 6-4-3 double play ended the inning.
  • Austin Clark (1-5) took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits over four innings.
  • Paul Beers was effective out of the bullpen as he allowing just one earned run over 4.2 innings.
  • Kevin Milley (3-0) tossed a complete game for the Blue Hens, allowing just one run on three hits, while striking out 10.
  • Palacios led the offense by going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
