Baseball Sets Single-Season Stolen Base Record

BOSTON, Mass. – The Towson University baseball team stole three bases Thursday afternoon to set a new single-season record in a 4-0 loss to Northeastern.  It was the first time the Tigers have been shutout in the last 89 games.

How It Happened
  • The Tigers (19-34, 9-13 CAA) had chances to get on the board early as they stranded four runners over the first three innings.
  • Towson did take advantage on the base paths as they were 3-for-3 in stolen bases.  The third stolen base was the 90th of the season, breaking the single-season school record of 89 set during the 2013 season.
  • The Huskies (28-24, 11-10 CAA) got on the board in the sixth inning as Zach Perry hit an opposite-field double and scored on Josh Treff single up the middle.
  • NU added to the lead in the sixth as they collected four hits in pushing across three runs.  Cam Walsh drove in the first run with a single before Pat Madigan delivered a sacrifice fly to center.  The final run came in to score on a Jake Farrell double to right field.
  • Skyler Morris (2-3) took the loss after giving up four runs on eight hits over six innings.  The outing tied the longest in the career for Morris.
  • Aaron Civale (8-3) picked up the victory after allowing five hits and striking out seven over eight shutout innings.
  • Paul Beers was very effective out of the bullpen, retiring all six hitters he faced.  He struck out three.
  • Brady Policelli collected two hits and stole a base.
