TOWSON, Md. – The 2015-16 school year featured many exciting and thrilling moments on the courts, on the field and in the pool for the Towson University Tigers. There were NCAA Tournament wins, CAA Championships, Players of the Year and SportsCenter Top 10 moments.
Members of the TU staff have voted and over the next several weeks we will reveal their picks for the Top 10 moments of the year.
The Top 10 gets kicked off with our honorable mention moments that finished just outside the Top 10.
- Hannah Snyder wins the 400-yard IM at the CAA Championship Meet: Snyder became the first 2016 Towson CAA Champion after she won the 400-yard individual medley. She earned an NCAA-B Cut time of 4:16.94 in the event finals for the first-place finish. She also posted an NCAA-B Cut time in the preliminaries, timing 4:16.72. (Full recap)
- Dominique Johnson sets the school record for career three-pointers: Known throughout her career for being a three-point threat, senior guard Dominique Johnson made history in the Tigers' 85-78 win over Elon on January 15. Johnson broke Mia Chapman's school record of 190 career triples with her three-pointer at 8:23 of the 4th quarter. Johnson, who also holds the school record for single-game three-pointers with nine, finished her Tiger career with 221 career three-pointers. (Full recap)
- Track & Field qualifies two athletes for the NCAA East Regional Meet: For the first time since 2010, the Tigers sent two athletes to the preliminary meet with a chance to advance to the NCAA Championship Meet. Senior Ashleigh Stallings qualified in the javelin throw, while sophomore Allison Marella had a chance to go and compete in the 10,000 meters. Stallings earned her spot after recording a distance of 44.90m (147'04") at the 2016 Eastern Conference Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Marella qualified with a time of 34:37.93 at the Raleigh Relays on March 25. (Pre Meet Story | Story from Meet)
- Mary Elle Arduino matches a program record on the balance beat at the GW Quad Meet: The freshman tied the program high on balance beam with a score of 9.925. She becomes just the third Tiger in program history to record a 9.925, and the first since Annukkka Almenoksa in 2008. (Full recap)
- Jenny Buchanan sinks a 25-foot putt to help the Tigers capture the Tignanelli Towson Invitational: The freshman sank a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to give the Towson women's golf team the 2015 Tignanelli Towson Invitational championship. The tournament title marked the first time in eight years Towson won the event. (Full recap)
