TOWSON, Md. – Senior guard
Raven Bankston hit a lay-up with four seconds to play, which lifted the Towson University women's basketball team to a 61-59 win over the College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. The Tigers, who overcame a 13-point deficit in the game, have now won two of their last three games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars (5-11, 2-3 CAA) scored 10 of the game's first 16 points and took a four-point lead with 4:43 to go in the first.
- Dajah Logan connected on a three-pointer with 1:41 to go in the stanza and College of Charleston led 15-8.
- The two teams traded points over the final minute and a half and the visitors led 16-10 after one period of play.
- A jumper from Breanna Bolden gave the Cougars an 11-point advantage, 25-14 with 7:07 to go in the second quarter.
- Towson answered with five straight points from redshirt junior guard Raine Bankston, which cut the Tiger deficit to six and made it a 25-19 game with 6:12 to go in the stanza.
- The Cougars scored 11 of the next 15 points and took a 36-23 lead with 1:43 to go in the quarter. It was the visitors' largest lead of the game.
- Junior center Daijha Thomas scored six points in a span of 1:02 and pulled Towson to within seven, 36-29.
- Tanisha Brown hit a jumper with one second to play and the College of Charleston took a 38-29 lead at the half.
- Towson (9-7, 2-3 CAA) opened the third quarter on a 12-3 run and tied the game at 41-41 with 5:47 to go in the stanza. Thomas had four points during that stretch while junior forward Mary Cuevas added three points.
- The two teams traded baskets before Raine Bankston's lay-up with five seconds left on the clock gave Towson a 48-46 lead. That was how the third quarter ended.
- The Cougars opened the fourth quarter on an 8-6 run and led 55-54 with 4:30 to play. Brown had six of the Cougars' eight points during that stretch.
- A triple from Bankston and a lay-up from freshman guard Etalyia Vogt gave Towson a 59-55 lead with 2:26 left on the clock.
- Back-to-back buckets from Bolden allowed the College of Charleston to tie the game at 59-59 with 31 seconds to play.
- Towson called timeout and set up the play for Bankston and she made the lay-up to put Towson ahead.
- The Cougars were unable to get a shot off in the final four seconds and the Tigers claimed the victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Towson celebrated its Hometown Heroes game and members of the military and first responders were recognized during the game.
- The Tigers made the most of their line-up with eight of the 10 players who appeared in the game scoring at least two points. Raine Bankston led the team with 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Raven Bankston had 12 points, three assists, four steals and two rebounds. Thomas was the third Tiger in double figures as she matched her season-high with 10 points and added six rebounds.
- All 10 Tigers grabbed at least one rebound in the game. Cuevas tied Thomas for the team lead with six boards and added nine points, three blocks and two assists.
- Towson held the College of Charleston to eight points in the third quarter. It was the ninth time this season the Tigers have held an opponent to single digits in a quarter.
- The foul line played a key role in the game. Towson was 10-for-12 from the charity stripe while the College of Charleston was just 5-for-11.
- Brown led the Cougars with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Bolden added 10 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.
The Tigers wrap up the current home stand when they host William & Mary on Friday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m.
