Laura Masciullo, who has knocked down 319 kills to go along with 156 digs.
Ivania Ortiz has contributed 243 kills and 40 service aces while
Luisa Sydlik has handed out 1,026 assists.
Hofstra Series History: Hofstra leads the all-time series with the Tigers 44-15. The two squads have split their last four meetings. Hofstra claimed a 3-0 victory when the two teams met at the end of September, handing the Tigers their first loss of the season.
Julymar Otero contributed 21 assists, 11 digs and eight kills in the match while
Ivania Ortiz had 12 kills and nine digs for the Pride.
Scouting the Huskies: Northeastern, which is coming off its first two losses of conference play, will host Delaware on Friday night before welcoming the Tigers to town on Sunday.
Amy Underdown does a little bit of everything for the Huskies as she enters play this week with 326 kills, 34 service aces, 244 digs and 25 blocks.
Gabrielle Tschannen leads the team with 103 blocks and has also added 121 kills.
Gabrielle Eyl leads the defense with 492 digs.
Northeastern Series History: Sunday's contest will be the 36th all-time meeting between the Tigers and Huskies. Northeastern leads the series, 21-15. The Huskies have won two of the last three meetings, including a 3-1 victory in Towson earlier this month.
Jocelyn Kuilan had 13 kills in that match, including the 1,000th of her career, while
Amy Underdown led Northeastern with 24 kills.
I'm Honored: For the second straight week a Tiger was honored as the CAA released its players of the week on Monday. Redshirt junior
Anna Holehouse snagged her second defensive player of the week award after leading the Tigers to sweeps of Elon and William & Mary. Holehouse posted 24 digs, 10 assists, a pair of service aces and a perfect reception percentage in the two matches combined. Holehouse, who was also honored after the first weekend of the regular season, joins
Julymar Otero and
Olamide Sonuga as Tigers honored by the CAA this season.
Twenty Wins: Towson's win over Elon on Friday night got the Tigers to the 20-win plateau. It marks the fourth straight season under head coach
Don Metil that the Tigers have recorded at least 20 wins. It was also the 20th time in program history the Tigers have posted at least 20 wins. The four 20 win seasons are tied for the second most by a Towson head coach; only
Chris Riley (five) had more.
Triple the Action: Senior
Julymar Otero posted her fourth triple-double of the season against Elon. Otero finished with 10 kills, 15 assists and 13 digs versus the Phoenix. In the NCAA stats updated through Monday, Otero was one of four Division I players to record four or more triple-doubles this season. Otero is believed to be the first Towson player to have multiple triple-doubles in the same season. Â
Not on Our Watch: One of the keys to success for the Tigers this season has been their ability to limit their opponents' hitting chances. Opponents are hitting just .137 against the Tigers this season. That ranks first in the CAA and fourth in the nation. The Tigers have held 18 of their 24 opponents to a hitting percentage below .200 this season and 10 of those opponents have been held under .100.
Can you dig it? Redshirt junior
Anna Holehouse continues to move her way up the career digs list at Towson. Holehouse's 24 digs last weekend gave her 1,490 career digs as a Tiger. She is just the fourth player in program history to record 1,400 or more digs in a career. Holehouse currently ranks third in school history for career digs. She needs 127 more digs to move into the top two for career digs at Towson.
Holehouse's 24 digs last weekend gave her 412 for the season. She is the second player in program history to record at least 400 digs in three seasons (
Paige Sekerak).
Up Next: Following this weekend's action, the Tigers return home for their final four regular season matches. The action kicks off Friday, November 3 when College of Charleston comes to SECU Arena. That will be the Tigers' "Autism Awareness" match and all fans are encouraged to wear blue to support the cause. Then on Saturday, November 4, the Tigers welcome back their alumnae when they host UNCW.
