Each Monday during the month of October, we'll highlight one senior in preparation for the 2017-18 season.

TOWSON, Md. -- With every achievement, Towson University senior guard
Mike Morsell continues to approach his game with modesty and hard work.Â
Â
"My dad was the person that introduced me to basketball, he put the ball in my hands when I was like three," Morsell said. "I come from a good family so I'm always grounded. I'm just Mike at the end of the day. I don't find it hard to stay humble."
Â
There's been no shortcomings in his success at Towson. He enters this season with 1,069 career points, which is 22nd in program history. In addition, Morsell has earned All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors in each of his first three years for the Tigers.
Â
Morsell credits a lot of his success to the most important people in his life.Â
Â
"I play for myself, God and my family," Morsell said. "I've always been big on family and big with God. I just try to always be true to myself."
Â
Last season as Towson posted its third season of 20 or more wins in the last four years, Morsell scored in double figures 20 times, led the team in scoring with 442 points, and put up a season-high 32 points twice against Drexel and Elon. Morsell also made two-game winning shots last season against UMBC and William & Mary.
Â
Throughout his basketball career, Morsell has evolved to become one of the best.Â
Â
"I think my perspective on basketball has changed since I've gotten older," Morsell said. "When I first arrived at Towson, it was always just about having fun, but as you get older, you learn that there's more to basketball. You have to sacrifice certain things when you're reaching for the next level." Â
Â
Morsell has moved into a different role on the team with his teammates this season.Â
Â
"My relationship with my teammates is great," Morsell said. "I'm in a big brother role on the team, helping the younger guys by talking to them and being positive with them." Â
Â
Morsell has taken steps to prepare himself and his team for success in the upcoming season.
Â
"Our strength and conditioning coach (Mike) Chatman, has taken my body to another level," Morsell said. "I'm in the best shape of my life. My personal goal for this season is to player of the year. My team goal is for us to win the conference championship and to get to the national tournament."
Â
After graduation, Morsell wants his legacy as a basketball player to be remembered in a positive light.Â
Â
"I want my teammates to remember that I was always there for them, as the guy who was nice and humble off the court," Morsell said. "On the court, I want to be remembered as the guy that gave it all he had every night." Â
Â
Reflecting on his basketball career, Morsell displays his pride in his game and his team.
Â
"I'm happy with my career here at Towson," Morsell said. "It's a great environment, like a home away from home. I wouldn't change anything that I've done here at Towson." Â
Â
Towson opens its 2017-18 season on Friday, Nov. 10 at Old Dominion. In addition, the Tigers also compete in the Belfast Classic in Northern Ireland on Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2. There's still time to book a travel package. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
