Adala Moto Inspires Fifth Graders At Cromwell Valley E.S.

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University senior men's basketball player Arnaud William Adala Moto inspired and entertained a group of fifth graders from Cromwell Valley Elementary School Tuesday morning.

Speaking for close to 60 minutes, Adala Moto was peppered with questions from inquisitive students ranging from who is his favorite basketball player, basketball team, how did he adjust to life in America, his favorite class and about the stock market. By the time Adala Moto finished posing for pictures, shaking hands, exchanging high-fives, autographing posters and answering questions, the students sported huge smiles.

For good measure, Adala Moto even showcased his French-speaking skills by answering a question in his native language. Adala Moto looked as comfortable standing in the room as he does on the basketball court. One student asked him about his free throw percentage while another asked him what life was like growing up in his native Yaounde, Cameroon.

Adala Moto left the students with this message, "always work hard for everything and continue to learn because it never stops."

"It was great talking with the fifth graders," Adala Moto said. "They were engaged and asked a lot of great questions. I had a great time sharing my story and life experiences as a student-athlete with them."

Adala Moto took time out of his schedule while preparing for Towson's upcoming Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) quarterfinal game against Northeastern on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. in the North Charleston Coliseum to spend time with the kids.

Adala Moto earned his degree in economics and is currently in graduate school at Towson working on a master's degree in marketing intelligence. On the court, Adala Moto has been a vital part of Towson's success over the last two seasons, helping the Tigers win 39 games.

This season he has produced consistent numbers averaging 12.8 points and 6.6 rebounds. Adala Moto scored a career high 33 points last Thursday in a road loss at UNCW last week. It was tied for the 12th highest single-game point total in program history. He was named CAA Player of the Week on Jan. 16.

Adala Moto has scored 1,256 career points and pulled down 780 rebounds. He has 12 career double-doubles and has scored in double figures 42 times.

"I hope I can be an inspiration for some of those kids to work even harder to get good grades to one day graduate from college," Adala Moto said. "This is an experience I'll remember for a long time."
