TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University gymnastics team earned a pair of wins on Senior Day over Cornell and Brockport on Sunday evening inside SECU Arena. The Tigers scored 194.625 to win the meet, while Cornell finished in second-place (193.500) and Brockport placed third (192.425).
 
The meet served as Towson's Senior Day as the team honored its trio of seniors, Bayleigh Fobes, Bailey Gallagher and Bridget Steffen, after the meet's closing awards ceremony.
 
Towson had 15 top five performances at the meet and won or shared the event title on every event except uneven bars.

How it Happened

• Towson opened the meet on vault, totaling 48.450. Erin Tucker won the event with a score of 9.775. Bayleigh Fobes and Gabriella Yarussi tied for third with matching scores of 9.750. That was a career high for Fobes on vault. Cortni Baker placed eighth (9.600) while Mary Elle Arduino rounded out the Tigers in the top 10, placing ninth (9.575).
• On uneven bars in the second rotation, Towson scored 48.000. Bridget Steffen and Mary Elle Arduino tied for fourth with matching scores of 9.625. Gabriella Yarussi and Cortni Baker posted matching scores of 9.600 to tie for sixth. Tyra McKellar scored 9.550 to place 10^th, followed by Brittney Ranti in 11^th (9.525).
• Towson had an impressive performance on balance beam, tallying 48.900. Mary Elle Arduino and Melissa Temkov both won the event with matching scores of 9.875. That was a career high for Temkov on beam. Gabriella Yarussi placed fourth with a score of 9.850. Bayleigh Fobes scored 9.725 to finish tied for ninth. Tyra McKellar finished 13^th (9.575) and Erin Tucker placed 14^th (9.500).
• Towson matched its season high of 49.275 on floor exercise. Tyra McKellar scored 9.925, matching her career high to win the event. Cortni Baker set a career high 9.900 to finish second. Erin Tucker and Gabriella Yarussi tied for third with scores of 9.850. Bayleigh Fobes placed 13^th with a score of 9.750.
• Gabriella Yarussi won the all-around with a score of 39.050. Tyra McKellar finished third in the all-around (38.500) while Mary Elle Arduino competed for the first time this season and took fifth (38.000).

 
Behind the Scores

• Towson had 15 top five performances at the meet and won or shared the event title on every event except uneven bars.
• The Tigers matched their season high of 49.275 on floor exercise. Four Tigers had career high performances at the meet.
• Tyra McKellar matched her career high of 9.925 on floor exercise, marking the second time this season she has done so and the second-consecutive home meet. She is one of 11 Tigers all-time who have recorded a 9.925 or higher on floor exercise. Only four Tigers in program history have scored higher than 9.925.
• Cortni Baker joins a select list of Tigers who have scored a 9.900 or higher on floor exercise. She is one of 14 Tigers in program history to have done so. Teammate Gabriella Yarussi joined that list with a 9.900 on floor exercise at the Tigers' last home meet, against Rutgers on Feb. 24.
