CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Towson University softball team concluded its four-week road odyssey by falling 5-4 in eight innings to the University of Pennsylvania at Eddie Moore Field Sunday morning in the final game of the Under Armour Invitational.
How It Happened
- Towson saw a 4-1 seventh inning lead evaporate.
- The Tigers stranded the potential game-tying run on third base in the bottom of the eighth inning.
- Penn turned three Towson seventh inning errors into a three-run rally to tie the game.
- Holiday Cahill and Shelby Stracher led Towson's offense with a double each.
- Also recording a hit for the Tigers were Kendyl Scott, Madison Wilson, Brook Miko and Caroline Reid.
- Miko also scored two runs.
- It took some time for the Tigers to get started as Penn nursed its 1-0 advantage until the bottom of the fifth inning.
- Scott was safe on error and Miko crossed the plate to tie the game, 1-1.
- The Tigers seemingly took control of the game when they scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- Miko reached base safely on error which allowed Daria Edwards and Nicole Stockinger to score.
- Stracher followed with a RBI double that extended Towson's lead to 4-1.
