Tigers Close Out 2017 Season With 4-2 Victory

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University baseball team closed out the 2017 season with a complete game victory from senior left hander Kyle Stricker in a 4-2 victory over UNCW.

How It Happened
  • In just his third start of the season, Stricker (3-2) kept one of the best offensive teams off balance all afternoon.
  • The lefty allowed just two runs on seven hits and five strikeouts in his first career complete game.
  • With the game tied 2-2 in the sixth inning, third baseman Richard Miller hit a solo home run to right field that proved to be the game-winning run.
  • With the score still a one-run game, Richie Palacios led off the eighth with an opposite field home run to left field.
  • The Seahawks (28-27, 16-8 CAA) got on the board in the first inning on a solo home run from Nick Feight.
  • The Tigers (20-34, 6-18 CAA) tied the game in the home-half of the inning as one-out singles from A.J. Gallo, Palacios and Colin Gimblet loaded the bases.  The run came across to score on a passed ball with two outs.
  • A pair of doubles for the Seahawks pushed across a run in the second before the Tigers came back to tie the game again in the third.
  • Mark Grunberg started the inning with a double to right center and went to third on a sacrifice bunt from Gallo.  Palacios then drove in the run with a sacrifice fly to left center.
  • On a day that was reserved for the seniors, freshman Bo Plagge collected his first three-hit game of his career.
  • Palacios, who had multi-hit games in all three games over the weekend, finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
  • Logan Beehler (2-7) took the loss after allowing three runs, two earned, on nine hits over 6.1 innings.
  • The game was the final game for seven seniors.  Matt Allen, Colin Dyer, A.J. Gallo, Colin Gimblet, Matt Golczewski, Kevin Ross and Kyle Stricker wore the Tigers uniform for the final time.
