Football Announces Home-and-Home Series With The Citadel

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University officials have announced that the Towson football team will play a home-and-home series with The Citadel in 2018 and 2019.

The first game of the series will be played inside Johnny Unitas® Stadium on September 28, 2018.  The second game of the series will be played inside Johnson Hagood Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina on August 29 or 31, 2019.

"We are very excited to have such a respected and historic institution, who is solidly within our ever-growing geographic recruiting footprint, on our schedule," said head coach Rob Ambrose.

The meeting will be the first between the schools on the gridiron.  The Tigers are currently 2-0 all-time against current members of the Southern Conference.  Towson's only other SoCon games came against Wofford.  The Tigers defeated the Terriers, 15-9, at home on October 6, 1984, and on the road, 31-15, on September 14, 1985.

The Citadel is currently 33-43 all-time against members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

The Tigers will open the 2017 season at home on Sept. 2 against Morgan State in the Battle for Greater Baltimore.
