Looking at the Tigers: The Tigers ran their record to 6-0 with another 3-0 weekend, this time at the Appalachian State Invitational. Junior Carola Biver was named the tournament MVP after posting 39 kills, 21 digs, six assists and a .258 hitting percentage in the three matches combined. Junior Jocelyn Kuilan leads the Tigers on the season with 77 kills, 28 digs and six service aces. Biver is contributing 69 kills and 51 digs. Sophomore Marrisa Wonders has dished out 163 assists while redshirt junior Anna Holehouse has 133 digs. Junior Olamide Sonuga leads the Tigers at the net with 17 blocks.

Scouting the Opponents: Cal State Fullerton comes to Towson with a 2-4 record after going 0-3 at its own tournament last weekend. Madeline Schneider leads the Titans with 87 kills and 79 digs while Nastassja Bowman has dished out 216 assists.

George Mason brings a 1-6 record into the Towson Invitational. The Patriots are led by Bailey Williams who has 61 kills while Pihla Jarvenpaa has a team best 24 blocks.

Quinnipiac enters its match at Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday night looking for its first win of the season. The Bobcats are 0-8 entering play this week. Natalie Alechko leads the team with 92 kills while Maria Pansari has handed out 160 assists.

Eastern Michigan comes to Towson with a 3-4 record on the season. The Eagles are led by Jordan Smith who has 68 kills and 13 service aces while Camille Schomer has a team-best 106 digs.

Lafayette carries a 1-4 record into the weekend's action. The Leopards are paced by Tori Smith who has 46 kills and 42 digs while Carly Kutschke has posted 30 kills and eight blocks.

Series History: Thursday's contest is the second all-time between the Tigers and Cal State Fullerton. The Titans won the previous meeting 3-0 during the 1999 season at the UC Irvine Invitational.

Friday evening's contest will be the 45th for the Tigers against their former Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe, George Mason. The Patriots hold a 25-19 advantage in a series that has not been played since the 2012 season. The Tigers have won the last three meetings.

Towson meets Quinnipiac for the second time overall and first since the 2008 season. That year the Tigers claimed a 3-0 victory as part of the Quinnipiac Invitational.

Sunday's match will be the first ever against Eastern Michigan. The Tigers are 2-0 this season against teams they are facing for the first time ever (ETSU and Jacksonville State).

Towson will face Lafayette for the 15th time in the overall series. The two squads have not met since the 1989 season when the Tigers claimed a 3-1 victory.

Strong Starts: Towson captured its second straight tournament title after going 3-0 at the Appalachian State Invitational last weekend. The Tigers improved to 6-0 on the year with the wins. It's the second straight year and third time in six years under head coach Don Metil that the Tigers have started the season with at least six straight victories. Six times in program history a Towson squad has started the season with at least six straight victories. The program record for best start to a season belongs to the 2010 team which started the season with 10 straight victories.

I'm Honored: Junior Carola Biver was named the tournament MVP at the Appalachian State Invitational. Biver led the Tigers with 39 kills, including a season-high 17 kills against ETSU. She also contributed 21 digs, six assists and a .258 hitting percentage over the weekend.

Biver was joined on the all-tournament team by fellow juniors Jocelyn Kuilan and Anna Holehouse. Kuilan finished with 35 kills and a .329 hitting percentage. She added 13 digs, five service aces and six blocks. Holehouse continued her defensive dominance to start the season with 54 digs and contributed 17 assists and four service aces.

Take Me to Your Leader: The Tigers continue to rank highly in several of the national stats categories. Towson ranks third in both kills per set (15.45) and digs per set (19.91). The Tigers are also fifth in assists per set (14.59). Towson is 10th in opponent hitting percentage (.116). The Tigers have held five of six opponents to a hitting percentage under .200.

Individually redshirt junior Anna Holehouse ranks among the top 20 in the nation in digs per set (12th-6.05) and total digs (16th-133).

It's Good to be Back: Towson plays five of it's 13 home matches in SECU Arena this week. The Tigers have found plenty of success on their home court in the last several years. Since the start of the 2014 season, the Tigers are 33-6 in matches played in SECU Arena. The best year in that stretch came in 2014 as the Tigers went 14-2 at home.

Up Next: The Tigers close out nonconference play with a trip to Michigan to take part in the Oakland Tournament, Sept. 15-16. The Tigers will take on Fort Wayne, Kent State and Oakland as part of the two-day event.
