TOWSON, Md. – As the 2018 season fast approaches, fans are starting to see some improvements to John B. Shuerholz Park. One of the major improvements is not visible to common fan. The improvement is a new locker room that the Towson University baseball team will move into at the start of the season.
The new state-of-the-art facility is located under the newly finished pedestrian bridge just steps from the Tigers' home dugout. Previously, the Tigers locker room was located inside Burdick Hall.
"From a facilities standpoint it seems like we are all in an arms race," said first-year head coach
Matt Tyner. "To have a state-of-the-are facility less than 50 feet away will only help us move forward in the recruiting process with outstanding talent in the United States."
The new facility features brand new wood lockers and is equipped with a television, gaming station and sound system.
"We have been in the locker room a couple times and saw what it is like," said senior left hander
David Marriggi. "We are real excited to get in there and finally have a home."
The Tigers will open the 2018 season Feb. 26 when the travel to face New Mexico State. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
