Nukiya Mayo posted her third straight double-double but it was not enough as the Towson University women's basketball team fell at James Madison University, 69-45 on Friday night. Â Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- James Madison's Kelly Koshuta and Towson senior forward Mary Cuevas each tallied a pair of early baskets and the two teams were tied at 4-4 with 8:18 to go in the first quarter.
- The Dukes used a 12- 6 run to take a 16-10 lead with 3:04 remaining in the stanza. Lexie Barrier had five points for James Madison during that stretch while redshirt senior guard Raine Bankston struck for four points for the Tigers.
- The two teams traded baskets as the home team took an 18-12 lead after 10 minutes of play.
- The Dukes outscored the Tigers 12-5 in the second quarter which allowed James Madison to take a 30-17 lead at the half.
- James Madison scored 11 of the first 13 points in the third quarter and pushed its lead to 41-19 with 6:48 left on the clock. Barrier and Kayla Cooper Williams each had four points for the Dukes during that stretch.
- Towson responded with an 11-5 run, which made it a 46-30 game with 2:24 to go in the third quarter. Mayo tallied six of the Tigers' points during that stretch.
- James Madison scored the final four points of the stanza and took a 50-30 lead with 10 minutes to play.
- Towson scored seven of the first 13 points in the fourth quarter, which made it a 54-35 game with 7:40 to play. Junior guard Danielle Durjan struck for five of the Tigers' seven points during that stretch.
- James Madison and the Tigers traded baskets over the final seven minutes of play as the Dukes claimed the 69-45 victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- James Madison shot 38.8 percent from the field and connected on four three-pointers. Towson posted a 26.6 field goal percentage.
- The Dukes went 13-for-22 from the line while the Tigers connected on 10-of-12 chances from the foul line. Freshman forward Tess Borgosz was a perfect four-for-four from the stripe to lead the Towson efforts.
- The Dukes held a 50-42 advantage in the rebounding battle. It was just the second time this season the Tigers were outrebounded in a game.
- Mayo finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds for her third straight double-double performance.
- Cuevas extended her double-digit scoring streak to 10 straight games as she contributed 10 points.
- Barrier led James Madison with 18 points while Cooper Williams finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
The Tigers are back in action on Sunday, Jan. 7 as they visit William & Mary for a 2 p.m. game.
