Football Rises Up Two Spots in the National Rankings

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University football team is now ranked in both major FCS polls, setting up a top-25 showdown at Johnny Unitas® Stadium this weekend.

Towson comes in at No. 23 in the STATS FCS Poll and joins the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll for the first time since 2014, slotting at No. 24.

This is the second week in a row that Towson is in the STATS FCS Poll and the first time this season the Tigers land in the coaches poll.

The Tigers are coming off their second straight victory on Saturday with a 44-27 win vs. The Citadel.  Towson has won all three of its games against FCS opponents, including the 10-point road win over top-20 Villanova on Sept. 15.

Seven teams in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) are currently in the top-25, the most for any conference in the FCS.

The new rankings set up a battle this Saturday with conference-foe Stony Brook.  The Seawolves are currently ranked No. 13 in each the STATS poll and the coaches poll after a victory over Villanova.  Tickets are available now by calling 1-855-TU-TIGER or email 4tigertix@towson.edu.  Fans may also visit towsontigers.com.
