Kuilan Named CAA Offensive Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- Following an strong weekend on the court and leading the Towson University women's volleyball team to a 2-0 mark, senior right side hitter Jocelyn Kuilan has been named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week. The league made its announcement Monday afternoon.

Kuilan had a strong showing in the Tigers' 2-0 week. Kuilan put down 30 total kills, including 20 Thursdays night at Elon in a 3-1 victory, her first 20-kill performance of the season. For the week, Kuilan hit for .407, including .429 at Elon. The senior dropped in four service aces on the week as well. She Kuilan added three block assists to her weekend as well.

Over the weekend, Kuilan moved into fourth all-time in program history, registering her 1,368th career kill, overtaking Val Davis' mark of 1,365 from 1987-89. Kuilan is 37 kills from moving up to third all-time as Liz Goubeaux put down 1,404 from 2001-04.


Additionally, UNCW's Kendall Bender was selected as the CAA Defensive Player of the Week while Hofstra freshman Aisha Skinner was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

Kuilan and the Tigers (8-11, 3-3 CAA) return home for a pair of matches this weekend. On Friday night for a 7 p.m. showdown with UNCW at SECU Arena.

Sunday will be a busy day for Towson as the Tigers will participate in the Autism Speaks Walk at Johnny Unitas Stadium, beginning at 9:15 a.m., followed by a noon match against defending CAA champion College of Charleston at noon.
