Sydney Stewart has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Week following the Tigers' series sweep over Charleston in two matches at SECU Arena to begin conference play.
Stewart totaled 53 digs over eight sets against the Cougars, averaging 6.63 digs per set. The Pennsylvania native finished with match-highs of 36 on the five-set battle on Saturday and 17 in the Black & Gold's Sunday sweep. The senior added eight assists and one service ace.
The senior now stands seventh all-time among program digs leaders with 1,191 digs. She needs 201 digs to eclipse the top five.
Stewart is the Tigers' second CAA Defensive Player of the Week honoree this season after
Malinah Purcell-Telefoni earned the award on Sept. 7.

The Tigers will embark on their second road trip of the season this weekend, visiting Boston to face the Northeastern Huskies on Friday and Saturday. The matches are set for 4 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
