TOWSON, Md. –Towson University volleyball coach
Don Metil has announced the signing of two transfers,
Anna Rice and
Megan Platt, ahead the 2026 season.
Anna Rice joins Towson from Texas Christian University (TCU), where she saw action in three sets for the Horned Frogs during her freshman campaign. The 6-foot-3 outside hitter was ranked as the No. 1 player in Oklahoma and a top 200 recruit by PrepDig out of Edmond Santa Fe High School.
Rice was a three-year starter at Edmond Santa Fe, where she totaled over 900 kills in less than 300 sets played for the Wolves. She earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) High School All-Region honors as a senior after tallying over 400 kills on a .281 hitting percentage. That season,
Rice was named to the All-State team and represented the West in an all-star match featuring the best players in Oklahoma.
On the club circuit,
Rice played for the Oklahoma Charge, winning the 2024 AAU 17U National Championship and the 2024 Lone State Classic 17U Championship.
"Coming out of high school as the No. 1 ranked player in Oklahoma and a top 200 recruit by PrepDig, Anna decided to train at TCU for a year. When she hit the portal and we had an existing relationship with her club coach, it felt like a move that would benefit us both. Anna is long, terminal and brings a work ethic and hunger that will be infectious on our court and in our training gym. She can swing at either pin, can play 6 rotations and will improve our block at the right stick. She's very gifted and I'm excited to see her make a huge impact here for several years to come," noted
Coach Metil.
Megan Platt joins the Tigers from Wheeling University, where she appeared in 88 sets across 28 matches in 2025. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania product ranked second on the Cardinals' squad with 298 digs and 3.39 digs per set, adding 39 assists in her freshman campaign.
Platt played for Lampeter-Strasburg High School, where she was a three-year varsity starter. She was a two-time Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2 First Team All-Star in 2023-24 and named the section's Most Valuable Player (MVP) following her senior season.
"Megan was someone we were closely evaluating out of high school since she played on the same club team as Addie Leber, but we didn't have room on the roster with the new house settlement rules. When we had a spot available, she hit the portal, and we saw how she performed statistically at her prior institution, it was a great fit for Tiger Volleyball. Megan is the definition of grit, hustle, and leadership and I look forward to her development here and how she moves our program forward, holistically," added
Coach Metil.
