Towson Falls to West Virginia on the Road

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Thursday night the Towson University women's basketball team opened a two-game trip to West Virginia starting with WVU.
 
The Tigers were led by redshirt sophomore Kionna Jeter who scored13 points and had three rebounds with 100% shooting from the free throw line. Thursday was Jeter's 10th-straight game with 10 or more points, she has had three games with 13 points.
 
Towson evens out to 5-5 on the year while the Mountaineers improve to 8-2. Next up for the Tigers is Marshall on Saturday afternoon.
 
How it Happened
  • The home team entered the game with a 9-0 run before the Tigers cut the lead with a layup from Maia Lee.
  • As WVU continued to extend its lead the road team fought back including a third quarter with a 4-of-6 mark from the free throw line.
  • Freshman Janeen Camp had her first career start and finished with two points and three blocks.
  • Jeter's 13 points were made by 41.6 shooting from the field and perfect at the line.
  • Thursday's game was the first meeting between West Virginia and Towson since 2009 and the Mountaineers hold the series lead 5-0.
  • West Virginia was the third Power 5 team the Tigers faced in their nonconference schedule, after facing two ACC teams in Wake Forest and then-No. 12 Syracuse.
  • Freshman Jennifer Davis played a career-best four minutes while sophomore Tess Borgosz also saw a career-high with 12.
  • Q. Murray had a pretty even night with four points, four assists and two steals while junior Nukiya Mayo contributed five points and seven rebounds.
  • Towson fell 90-43 to West Virginia, where head coach Diane Richardson previously was an assistant coach.
