Palacios Homers in Series Finale

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The first inning proved to be the difference as the Towson University baseball team dropped the rubber game of the three game series, 13-3 to New Mexico State Sunday afternoon at Presley Askew Field.

How it Happened
  • The Aggies (2-1) took advantage of some wildness from the Tiger pitching staff as five walks in the opening frame helped NMSU push across eight runs.  All the baserunners helped set up a pair of two-run singles from Joey Ortiz and Caleb Henderson in the inning.
  • NMSU would extend its lead with a run in the third and two more in the fifth.
  • The Tigers (1-2) got on the board in the eighth inning after Noah Cabrera was hit by a pitch and Craig Alleyne followed with a walk.
  • Richie Palacios followed by belting a three-run home run to right center.  It was his second three-run home run of the weekend.
  • Alex Cuas (0-1) took the loss after surrendering six runs on four walks and a hit batter in just one-third of an inning.
  • Palacios finished the day 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBIs.
  • On the weekend, Palacios went 5-for-12 with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs.
