Miller Time

DOVER, Del. – Towson University third baseman Richard Miller went 4-for-5 with a triple and a grand slam in leading the Tigers to a 12-2 victory over Delaware State Tuesday afternoon.
 
How it Happened
  • Miller got stronger as the game went on and his collected a pair of singles before delivering a triple in the seventh and a grand slam in the eighth.
  • He drove in the first run of the game with a single to center field.  Richie Palacios scored on the play as he drew a walk and went to second on a failed pickoff attempt
  • Towson (3-11) took the lead for good in the fourth inning after Colin Gimblet delivered a two-run double to straight-away center field.
  • That would be enough for reliever Mason Anderson who allowed just two hits over three shutout innings to pick up the victory.
  • Palacios singled with one out in the fifth and came in to score on a balk.
  • The Tigers broke the game open in the eighth as Miller's grand slam was followed by a Bo Plagge solo shot to left field.
  • Alex Parker (1) made sure the lead held as he gave up just two this and struck out four over three shutout innings.
  • Four Tigers had multi-hit games with Miller leading the way with four.  Palacios, Mark Grunberg and Gimblet each added two hits.
  • Palacios scored four times, while Miller, Plagge and Grunberg each scored twice.
  • Miller tied his career high with five RBIs.  He also drove in five runs on April 8, 2017 at Hofstra.

The Tigers return to action Wednesday afternoon as they welcome UMBC to Schuerholz Park.  First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
