Football Announces Additions to Staff

TOWSON, Md. – Towson University head coach Rob Ambrose has announced the additions of Matt Applebaum, Collin Bauer and Justin Lima to the coaching staff.  All three coaches joined the Tigers this spring.
 
Applebaum will serve as the offensive line coach, while Bauer will work with the inside linebackers. Lima is the team's new strength and conditioning coach.
 
Applebaum comes to Towson after spending the previous two years as the offensive line coach at Davidson College. He was promoted to offensive coordinator for the 2017 season.
 
Prior to his time at Davidson, Applebaum spent one season as the offensive line coach at Southeastern Louisiana (2015) and one year as an offensive assistant with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2014).
 
Applebaum got his start in coaching in 2008 at Central Connecticut State where he worked with the tight ends, assisted with the offensive line and served as the team's video coordinator. 
 
He spent three years working with the Washington Redskins, starting as a pro personnel assistant, moved to college personnel assistant and finally to an offensive coaching assistant in 2010. He returned to college coaching following that season and spent two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Miami before spending two years as the offensive line coach/run-game coordinator at Bucknell.
 
Applebaum was a two-year starter on the offensive line at UConn before playing one season professionally with the Wiles-Barre/Scranton Pioneers in AF2.
 
He graduated from UConn in 2007 with a degree in political science. 
 
Bauer comes to Towson after spending two seasons at Rutgers. He served as defensive quality control last season after serving as a defensive line graduate assistant in 2016.
 
Prior to his time with the Scarlet Knights, Bauer spent two years as a graduate assistant at Maryland and one year at The Citadel.
 
Bauer served as a student assistant during his time at Towson and graduated in 2013 with a degree in social sciences in 2013.
 
Lima comes to Towson after spending the previous five years as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at Iowa. He joined the Hawkeyes after spending two years working with the Maryland football program. 
 
Lima is a strength and conditioning coach (SCCC) certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, and a Level 1 Exercise Nutrition Coach (Pn1) through Precision Nutrition.
 
He attended Bridgewater State University, where he played offensive line for four years.  Lima earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice and master's degree in strength and conditioning, both from Bridgewater State.
 
While working on his master's degree he served internships at Harvard University and the University of Iowa. Lima worked with the Hawkeye football program in the summer of 2012.
