Baseball Falls at GW

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Towson University baseball team committed six errors in falling, 13-2, to George Washington Wednesday afternoon at Tucker Field.
 
How it Happened
  • Towson (4-18) got on the board in the first inning after Billy Lennox drew a leadoff walk and came around to score on a groundout from Mark Grunberg.
  • A leadoff walk in the home-half of the first helped the Colonials push across two runs and take a 2-1 lead.
  • Towson trailed 3-1 heading into the fourth inning before Colin Gimblet singled with one out. After moving to second on a groundout, Noah Cabrera singled through the left side to plate Gimblet.
  • GW (13-11) took control of the game in the bottom of the inning as three costly errors helped the Colonials score six runs.
  • The Colonials added four more runs in the seventh to put the game away.
  • Alex Cuas (0-2) got the start and took the loss for the Tigers. He allowed two runs, one earned on three hits and two strikeouts in two innings.
  • Jake Pecilunas was effective out of the bullpen as he struck out two in 1.2 innings of shutout, hitless baseball.
  • Kevin Hodgson (1-0) allowed two runs over four innings to pick up the victory for GW.
  • Drew Bossi came off the bench to deliver a pinch-hit double to deep left center.
  • Cabrera reached safely in both plate appearances, going 1-for-1 with a RBI and hit by pitch.
 
On Deck
The Tigers return to action March 30-April 1 as they welcome Hofstra to Schuerholz Park for a three-game CAA series. The series opener is set for 3 p.m.
