How it Happened
  • The Hornets got on the board first as they plated two runs in the first inning on a pair of RBI groundouts.
  • Those two runs would be all that freshman right hander Josh Seils would allow in picking up his first career victory. He finished his day by throwing a career-long five innings, allowing the two runs on just five hits.
  • The Tigers provided all the necessary offense in the third inning as Richie Palacios started the inning with a solo home run to right field, his team-leading eighth of the season.
  • With one out, Billy Lennox singled just inside the bag at third and Richard Miller walked.
  • A groundout advanced both runners and Craig Alleyne followed with a two-run single up the middle.
  • Mason Anderson, who picked up the win in the first meeting against DSU, entered the game in the sixth and allowed just one hit over his four innings. He struck out three in earning the first save of his career.
  • He retired the first six hitters he faced before hitting a batter to start the eighth inning. He rebounded to retire the next three hitters.
  • Towson added to its lead in the seventh inning as Lennox and Miller singled to start the frame.
  • Logan Burke deposited the first pitch he saw over the fence in left for a three-run shot. It was the first long ball of the season.
  • Anderson shut the door in the ninth as he surrendered a leadoff single, but followed it up with a 6-4-3 double play. He capped the game with his third strikeout.
