Palacios Reaches Milestone in Series Finale

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Towson University shortstop Richie Palacios recorded his 200th career hit in the Tigers 2-1 loss to Northeastern in series finale Sunday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.

  • The Huskies got on the board first in the third inning as a leadoff walk came around to score on a passed ball.
  • The Tigers tied the game in the fifth inning after Tristan Howerton walked with one out and went to second on a Charlie Watters single through the left side.
  • After both runners advanced on a throwing error, Richie Palacios was intentionally walked.
  • Billy Lennox battled at the plate before eventually drawing a walk to score Howerton.
  • NU quickly regained the lead as a leadoff single and stolen base set up an Ian Fair RBI single up the middle.
  • The Huskies looked to distance themselves in the seventh inning as they loaded the bases with no outs.
  • Gavin Weyman, who hails from nearby Raynham, Massachusetts responded by striking out each of the next three hitters to keep it a one-run game.
  • Alex Cuas (0-4) suffered the tough loss after allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits and five strikeouts over five innings.
  • Weyman finished his day by allowing just one hit and striking out five over three innings.
  • Kyle Murphy (3-0) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings to pick up the win.
  • Andrew Misiaszek (7) retired all six hitters he faced for the save.
