Towson Picked 10th in CAA Football Preseason Poll

BALTIMORE -- In conjunction with CAA Football Media Day, the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has released its annual Predicted Order of Finish as voted by the league's head football coaches and media relations directors.

The Towson University Tigers were voted 10th with 74 points. James Madison University, which reached the FCS National Championship game last season, was favored with 241 points, including 21 of the 24 first-place votes. New Hampshire was picked second with 206 points and two first-place votes. Delaware and Stony Brook were voted third and fourth with 182 and 169 points, respectively. Elon rounded out the top five with 168 points and the final first-place nod.

Towson, which finished 5-6 overall and 3-5 in the CAA last season, has a challenging conference schedule in 2018 as the Tigers take on four of the top five teams in the coaches' poll. The Tigers host Stony Brook on Oct. 6 before road trips to Delaware (Oct. 27) and Elon (Nov. 10). Towson hosts James Madison for the regular season finale on Nov. 17.

CAA Football also announced its annual Preseason All-Conference Team. New Hampshire's quarterback, Trevor Knight, was the CAA Football Preseason Offensive Player of the Year while James Madison cornerback Rashad Robinson was the league's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
