SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- The final score might read 3-0, but that is not indicative of how close the match between the Towson University women's volleyball team and Arizona State.

The Sun Devils (4-0) won 3-0, but all three sets were decided by two points and all three sets required extra points to decide the outcome. Arizona State won 28-26, 27-25, 26-24 Saturday evening during day two of the Puerto Rico Clásico.

How it Happened

The first set was back and forth throughout. The Sun Devils held a 23-22 lead after a Towson surge forced a timeout. The pause worked in Towson's favor as they took a 26-25 lead, but ultimately, Arizona State rallied back for a 28-26 win.
Second-set action was still tight the entire way. Towson held a 20-18 lead before the Sun Devils called timeout. Again Arizona State came past Towson after a break to win the set 27-25.
Late in the third and final frame, Towson held a one-point, 22-21 lead, again leading to an Arizona State timeout. The Sun Devils closed out the match to win 26-14.

Behind the Numbers

For the match, Annie Ertz led the way for Towson, putting down seven kills. Sophomore Oliva Finckel and Jocelyn Kuilan finished with six apiece.
Silvia Grassini swung a team-best .455 Saturday night, getting six kills on 11 attempts with just one error.
Redshirt senior Anna Holehouse capped the Tigers' second match with 21 digs as Marrisa Wonders logged a pair of service aces. The latter added 13 assists to her evening as well.
