TOWSON, Md. – The victory over then top-10 Villanova on September 15
th has impressed many as the Towson University football team has been placed in the national rankings for the first time since 2014.
Towson has been placed #25 in the FCS Stats poll and is one point away from being ranked in the top-25 of the FCS Coaches Poll.
The Tigers stand at 2-1, coming off its first top-10 victory since 2013 with the 45-35 road win at Villanova. It is the second straight season where the Tigers have started the season 2-1. Towson's lone loss came against ACC foe Wake Forest in North Carolina, plus the team has won two contests on the road.
In 2014, Towson was ranked at the start of the year. The Tigers were ranked at some point each season from 2011-14, including finishing 2
nd nationally at the end of 2013.
The home opener is set for this Saturday, Sept. 29
th at 4 p.m. against The Citadel at Johnny Unitas® Stadium.
