Maranda Scott Hired as Assistant Director for Academic Achievement

TOWSON, Md. Maranda Scott joins the Towson University Athletic Department as the Assistant Director for Academic Achievement. She will work with the Tigers' men's basketball and gymnastics teams.
 
Scott comes to Towson after a two-year stint at Coastal Carolina as an academic advisor.
 
"I'm very excited to have Maranda on board with us," said Senior Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Academic Achievement Geoff Gordon. "Her experience in the field are impressive and she came in highly recommended.  Her work ethic and readiness to hit the ground running are welcomed by the staff, and the student-athletes she'll be working with are in great hands.  I'm looking forward to her joining us as we continue to move forward with our program and the student-athletes' academic excellence."
 
While at Coastal, Scott worked with both men's and women's basketball as well as softball in her capacity. In 2016 her teams maintained a GPA above 3.0 in the fall semester. She assisted students in selecting majors and classes while advising them set up their career goals and plan their time management.
 
Scott assisted with recruiting in presenting to prospective student-athletes and their families, as well as organizing tutoring and mentoring needs for student-athletes.
 
Before arriving at Coastal Carolina she was an intern for student-athlete development at West Virginia University. Scott was attending West Virginia for her undergraduate and graduate degrees in sport management when she became involved in the athletic department. As an intern she worked with all daily responsibilities of student-athlete development and tutoring.
 
Scott was also a student assistant for athletic communications at WVU from 2012-15, and a clerical assistant for the business office of the athletic department from 2014-15, while earning her bachelor degree of science in sport management.
