TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University gymnastics team finished in third place after hosting its first home meet of the 2019 season. The teams included Cornell, North Carolina State and William & Mary.
The Tigers scored 191.975 while North Carolina State finished in first with a score of 194.600, William & Mary in second with a 192.150 and Cornell in fourth at 191.725.
Ally Wesoly had two second place finishes of the night, earning a score of 38.950 in the all-around and a 9.850 on the uneven parallel bars.
How it happened
* The Tigers had a 1-2 finish on the balance beam with Emerson Hurst and Mary Elle Arduino, respectively. Hurst had a score of 9.875 while Arduino had a score of 9.800.
* Cortni Baker tied for third place in the floor portion of the meet with a score of 9.825.
* In the same event, teammates Arduino and Wesloy tied for eighth (9.750).
* Tess Zientek earned a score of 36.225, finishing sixth in the all-around.
* Baker tied for sixth place on vault with a score of 9.750.
* Teammate Nikki Borkowski finished in 11th in the same event with a score of 9.650.
* Baker and teammate Brittney Ranti tied for 13th on the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.675.

Towson will travel to Williamsburg, Virginia to face William & Mary again on Jan. 26. The meet time is set for 4 p.m. inside of Kaplan Arena.
