Davey Scores, Towson Falls to Elon

TOWSON, Md. – Christiana Davey scores as the Towson University women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Elon Sunday afternoon at the Tiger Soccer Complex.

Davey put Towson (3-10-1, 0-5-0 CAA) on the board after a free kick occurred in the second half. Elon (9-3-2, 3-1-1 CAA) scored all three goals in the second half.

How it happened
  • Elon had five shots by five different sources all within the first 10 minutes of the game.
  • Nikki Logan took a shot at the 16 minute mark but goalkeeper Katrin Hauksdottir had the save.
  • Beky Myers took two shots for the Phoenix both went wide right.
  • Jacey Miller took a shot at the 30 minute mark and Hauksdottir had another save for Elon.
  • The Towson defense had a huge block towards the end of the half after Carson Jones attempted a shot.
  • It was back and forth at the start of the second half as Elon's Abby Fusca took a shot and had it saved by Towson's goalkeeper Delaney Mitchell.
  • Towson's Davey shot the ball at the other end but it went wide left.
  • Then the Towson offense had some momentum after Davey shot the ball, it hit the post bounced back out to Logan who attempted another shot but it was saved by Hauksdottir.
  • At the 59 minute mark, Carson Jones scored for Elon assisted by Taylor Paradoski.
  • Elon would have four more shots before Jones gave Elon a 2-0 lead at the 70 minute mark. Jasmine Jones had the assist.
  • Jessica Carrieri sealed the deal for Elon scoring with nine minutes left in the game. Hannah Doherty with the assist.
  • After an Elon foul, Davey scored off a free kick to make the final score 3-1.
Inside the Number
  • Delaney Mitchell had a career-high in saves (10).
  • Elon out-shot Towson 20-11.
  • Both teams took three corners each.

  • Towson travels to Harrisonburg, Virginia on Thursday, Oct. 17 to face Colonial Athletic Conference foe James Madison.
  • The game is slated for 7 p.m. inside Sentara Park.
