TOWSON, Md. – Former Towson University standout running back
Darius Victor will return to the professional ranks, being drafted into XFL by the New York Guardians for the inaugural 2020 season.
Victor was taken in the ninth round, 67
th overall in the Skill Position XFL Draft by the Guardians. The XFL Draft is split up into five phases: skill players, offensive line, defensive front seven, defensive backs and open draft.
Victor played for the Tigers from 2013-16, being the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Year in 2013 and a two-time all-conference player, including First Team in 2014. In his career with Towson, he averaged 5.2 yards per carry, totaling 3,309 yards and 41 rushing touchdowns in 41 games.
Post-Towson, he signed contracts with the New Orleans Saints and the Arizona Cardinals in the National Football League and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League.
The XFL is a professional league that is planning to come back in 2020 with eight teams for a 10-week season, being reformed after first playing football in the 2001 season. The Guardians will play at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The XFL Draft will conclude tomorrow. Along with Victor, several former Tigers are currently in the draft pool, including
