TOWSON, Md. – A six-touchdown performance over the weekend has elevated
Tom Flacco to Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
The senior quarterback was stellar against Bucknell this Saturday, throwing a Towson University single game record six touchdowns off 16-22 passing for 203 yards, adding 26 yards on the ground. All six touchdowns came in the first half, with five going to
Shane Leatherbury, tying a program record for receiving touchdowns in a game.
Flacco and Leatherbury helped Towson earn a 56-7 victory over Bucknell to improve to 4-3 on the season.
This is Flacco's fourth league weekly award in his collegiate career and first this season. Towson has three CAA weekly awards this year, including ones for Flacco,
S.J. Brown II (defensive) and
Shane McDonough (special teams).
Flacco's performance was also honored on ESPN. A "Game Ball" was awarded to Flacco by the network's Kevin Connors during halftime of one of Saturday's college football games to recognize his play.
