TOWSON, Md. – A key part of the Towson University defense on Saturday, Ben Kumpon has been selected as the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Football Rookie of the Week.
 
Kumpon is the fourth Towson player to win a weekly award this year and second to be a rookie honoree.  Andrew Indorf was the CAA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 1.
 
Kumpon was part of a Towson defense that helped the Tigers win their CAA opener 26-24 at Bryant on Saturday.  The freshman linebacker from Avondale, Pennsylvania was second on the team with seven tackles in the game.
 
Through five games, he leads all Towson freshmen with 13 tackles, also having a half-sack.
