TOWSON, Md. – Towson University punter
Bryce LaFollette continues to rack up honors this week, being named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy®, announced on Wednesday.
The Campbell Trophy®, awarded by the National Football Foundation (NFF), recognizes an individual as the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation for combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. LaFollette is one of 177 student-athletes from around the country to be named a semifinalist.
LaFollette joins fellow Tigers Jamal Gay (2023), Aaron Grzymkowski (2020, 2021), Jake Ryder (2016) and Yaky Ibia (2010) among others who have been honored as Campbell Trophy® semifinalists.
On the field, LaFollette, the reigning Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Special Teams Player of the Week, is Towson's punter, averaging 43.6 yards per punt, including four punts over 50 yards and five landing inside the 20-yard line.
In the classroom, the redshirt junior is set to graduate in the spring with a degree in marketing/business administration. He is also an active community service contributor with Towson football and in his hometown.
The NFF will announce finalists on Oct. 22, where all finalists will receive a postgraduate scholarship of $18,000. The Campbell Trophy recipient, which will be announced in Las Vegas on Dec. 9, will have their scholarship increased to $25,000.
Towson gets ready for conference play on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. at Bryant.
